Samsung officially announced the Samsung I7500 Android cell phone. It has dimensions of 115x56x11.9mm, which makes it very thin for a smartphone.

Samsung I7500 also has a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen running at 320 x 480. This display technology boasts better battery efficiency compared with regular LCD screens commonly found in most mobile phones.

Sony Ericsson today unveiled the S312, a basic camera phone with illuminated shortcuts on the keypad for easier usage. 

There is not much to write home about, but for a entry level cell phone, the S312 does seem pretty loaded.  Buyers will find Bluetooth, FM radio, a 2-inch TFT display, a speakerphone, and GSM/GPRS/EDGE/900/1800 connectivity.

The Sony Ericsson S312 will make its way to the market in the second quarter of 2009 for a price that is yet to be announced.

Samsung launched a service allowing its customers to buy or rent movies and TV series to download to their mobile phones.

It is currently available in Britain and Germany. Over 500 blockbusters such as The Dark Knight, RocknRolla and Ironman and hit TV series, including Gossip Girl, E.R. and Friends, can be downloaded and viewed on video enabled Samsung phones. Another 1000 movies expected by the end of June 2009. Samsung Movies will be available in other European markets later on this year.

CEO of Microsoft Steve Ballmer at the conference confirmed that Window Mobile 7 will be ready in 2010. Ballmer does not give a precise date when the Window Mobile 7 will be ready, but is expected to be sent to producers in November 2009 and will appear in consumer devices from April 2010.
